How often should a business post on social media?

Plain answers for local business owners, from Taha at Urban Promotion. Updated November 2026.

Quick answerFor most local businesses, 3 to 4 posts a week on Instagram and Facebook is plenty, with Reels in the mix. Posting every week, without gaps, matters more than posting every day.

A simple weekly target

WhereHow oftenWhat works
Instagram3 to 4 posts a weekReels, photo posts, Stories
Facebook3 to 4 posts a weekThe same posts as Instagram
TikTok2 to 5 videos a weekShort, real, behind the scenes
Google Business Profile1 post a weekPhotos of recent jobs or offers

Can't do all of it? Start with Instagram and Facebook. One post shared to both counts.

What to post in a week

  • 1 or 2 Reels of your work, team or customers
  • 1 photo post or carousel
  • 1 post that answers a common customer question
  • Stories on busy days

Gaps hurt more than slow weeks

  • A page with no posts for months looks closed
  • Steady posting builds trust, even if it's small
  • 3 good posts beat 7 rushed ones

How to keep it going

  • Film in batches. One shoot can fill weeks of posts.
  • Schedule ahead. Plan the week on Monday.
  • Reuse your best. Post a great Reel again a few months later.
  • Hand it off. Our social media management does a shoot every month and 3 to 4 posts a week for you.

Is more always better?

No. Posting more only helps if every post is good. Real videos of your business win customers. Filler posts don't.
